Microbiology
To ensure product safety, Lincoln offers a broad range of short- and long-term challenge testing for bacteria and fungi.
Additionally, our microbiology experts are available for evaluative site visits to identify sources of possible product contamination and recommend remediations.
Cosmetic, Toiletry, and Fragrance Association (CTFA) 28-Day Preservative Challenge Testing
This industry-standard testing protocol ensures cosmetic and personal care products are safe for use in direct contact with the body and skin. Microbial content tests detect possible contamination, and preservative challenges verify resistance to microbial contamination from outside sources.
The Personal Care Products Council (formerly Cosmetics, Toiletries, and Fragrance Association - CTFA) has established guidelines for testing cosmetic and personal care products and related preservatives against bacteria and fungi.
Streak Plating (Growth/No Growth)
Streak plate testing isolates organisms (generally bacteria) and evaluates their ability to withstand a given preservative.
Microbiology Consulting
Sometimes the problem with the product isn’t the product–it’s the facility. That’s why Lincoln offers microbiology consulting, sending our experts to inspect manufacturing and filling environments to identify and remediate possible contamination vectors, reducing reliance on preservatives for safe, effective end-products.
